Warren County Constable Freddie Lancaster no longer is facing a charge of driving under the influence after a judge amended the charge, according to court records. As Lancaster drove down Scottsville Road on May 16, witnesses called police to report what they assumed was a drunk driver, according to police records. Police responding to the calls saw Lancasters vehicle traveling slowly with a flat front tire and pieces of the tire falling onto the road, the report said. Lancaster was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs after a test of his breath showed no sign of alcohol but he failed all other sobriety tests administered by the officer. Lancaster told police he had taken several pain pills and muscle relaxers because of a broken foot and a toothache, court records show. He also told the Daily News after his arrest that he had not slept in several days following an out-of-state trip and had just finished working a night shift at Greenwood High School. A blood sample taken from Lancaster showed the presence of carisoprodol and propoxyphene. Those are a muscle relaxer and a medium-strength pain pill, Bowling Green pharmacist Richard Lacefield said. Warren District Judge Sam Potter amended Lancasters charge to driving with defective equipment and waived the fine and court costs. He will not receive any penalty points on his drivers license.
