Renegades blank visiting Hot Rods 6-0

Cooper Kinney extended his hitting streak to six games, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods were shut out 6-0 by the Hudson Valley Renegades on Thursday at Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls, New York. 

The Renegades (10-7) began the scoring against Hot Rods starter Yoniel Curet in the bottom of the second inning. Josh Moylan walked and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Rafael Flores doubled to score Moylan and take a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Jared Serna doubled and came around to score on a single by Jesus Rodriguez, extending the lead, 2-0. 

Hudson Valley logged two more runs in the bottom of the fifth against Bowling Green reliever Gerlin Rosario. Serna was hit by a pitch, while Rodriguez and Omar Martinez worked back-to-back walks to load the bases. Flores walked, scoring Serna to make it 3-0. Nelson Medina also plated a run on an RBI walk, putting the Renegades up 4-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, The Renegades took a 6-0 lead against Hot Rods reliever Nate Dahle. Serna drove in a run on an RBI single, and Martinez singled in a run on a base hit to right field.

Bowling Green (11-7) was shut out the rest of the way.

Trent Sellers (3-0) earned the win, striking out five and surrendering two hits over 3 2/3 scoreless frames. Curet (0-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Luis Arejula picked up the save, striking out four over 3 1/3 shutout innings.

The Hot Rods and Renegades play game four of six on Friday with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. CT. Bowling Green starts right-hander Duncan Davitt (1-0, 2.45), while Hudson Valley starts righty Sebastian Keane (0-2, 8.10).
