Hudson Valley picked the scoring back up in the bottom of the eighth inning against Bowling Green reliever JJ Goss. Goss stayed in the game and shut down Hudson Valley in the ninth to secure the 3-2 Hot Rods victory.

Goss (1-0) earned his first win of the season, completing two innings while allowing one unearned run on one hit, walking two and striking out two. Morrill (0-1) was given his first loss of the year, surrendering two runs on two hits over an inning.
