It was a bittersweet win for Bowling Green coach Aaron Beth. On one hand, Beths team advanced to tonights Fords Furniture Holiday Classic championship game with a 56-41 win over University Heights. On the other hand, the victory came at the expense of mentor and former high school coach Jeff Jackson. I wish we could have tied and neither one of us had to lose, Beth said. Coach Jackson is a great guy. Ive known him for a long time. I respect him as a coach. Ive learned a lot from him. Its tough to go against somebody you know so well, but fortunately we were able to come out with the win. Bowling Green used its height advantage in the post and a strong defense to pull away in the final period. Neither team came out strong out of the gate, with only 12 points scored in the opening quarter, but the Purples ended the half on a 5-0 run to take a 23-17 halftime lead. Dewalt and Ray led Bowling Green with 15 points each, while Drew Krutza added six points, six rebounds and five assists. Josh Mack led the Blazers with 16 points.
