Greenwood High School football coach Greg Ulasiewiczs future was uncertain Wednesday after his was fired from his coaching position but kept as director of Greenwoods Alternative Learning Center. Athletics Director Greg Dunn said the firing had nothing to do with any one particular incident, including Ulasiewiczs altercation with Robert Jordan a parent of a Greenwood football player in the schools fieldhouse in September. The school administrators decided that the football program wanted to go in a different direction and under new leadership, Dunn said. We recognized that Coach U. is a hard worker and knowledgeable on football. … There comes a time when personnel changes need to be made. We wish him the best in whatever he does. Dunn said the program hasnt had a good win-loss record during the past couple of years. The team won only two games this past season and, during the past three seasons, had a combined record of 11-20.In September, Ulasiewicz received a five-day unpaid suspension after being accused of fighting Jordan following a Sept. 18 junior varsity game. Both men were hurt in the altercation. Jordan told police the altercation happened when he stopped by the fieldhouse to discuss his sons performance. Neither man pressed charges in the incident. Ulasiewicz said he wasnt surprised by the schools decision to fire him and was unsure if he will remain as director of Greenwoods Alternative Learning Center. Meanwhile, Greenwood assistant football coach Jeremy Croft will oversee the offseason conditioning and weight-lifting program while school administrators search for Ulasiewiczs replacement, Dunn said.
